Services

With 20+ years of experience at top studios like Animal Logic, RISE, Arx Anima, Virgin Lands and Deck 13 – supervision on three animated features and many more game productions – we know exactly what it takes to deliver. Now, we’re channeling into a dedicated rigging studio built for full-scale productions, commercials and games. This results in clearer communication, streamlined workflows, and greater efficiency. Here’s a brief overview of our services.

RIGGING

FEATURE ANIMATION | COMMERCIALS | GAMES

With our very own full-fledged rigging tool BEAR in charge, our main expertise is undoubtedly rigging. We offer professional rigging services for feature animation, commercials, and games – covering the full range of assets, from all kinds of props to vehicles and characters. Our rigs have been proven in various game and feature film productions, where we provided both supervision and asset rigging. We’re also fully open to utilizing your in-house rigging tools – if you prefer – or enhancing existing workflows.

TOOL DEVELOPMENT

RIGGING TOOLS | TAILORED SOLUTIONS

Tooling is an essential part of rigging – perhaps even the most important one. Not only do we have our own rigging tool in place, we’re also developing full-fledged rigging solutions for companies, tailored to their specific pipeline and asset needs. For instance, for Mindshow, we’ve developed a new rigging tool designed to handle their large asset load and mocap workflow, providing automated mocap rig generation and retargeting tools.

MODEL TOPOLOGY

TOPOLOGY LAYOUT | REVIEW

A deformation can only be as good as the technical layout of the model. Even the best rigs are limited if the topology isn’t right. That’s why it’s crucial to thoroughly review the model deliveries before rigging begins. We offer extensive model reviews – either by supporting your modeling team or by providing models and topologies directly. A key focus, of course, is compatibility and consistency to ensure the rigs are built as efficiently as possible.

PRODUCTION PLANNING

SCHEDULING | COORDINATION

It’s a common scenario in the animation industry: the overall project is fantastic, the ideas are strong and promise a thrilling experience – but in the end, the planning doesn’t quite hit the mark. Due to insufficient or misaligned coordination and scheduling, assets and quality often have to be cut, leaving the team stressed and disheartened. That’s where our rigging services make the difference. Since rigging is such a crucial link between two major pipeline stages – modeling and animation – we bring the technical insight and experience needed to plan ahead and coordinate asset development effectively, helping you get the most out of your budget.

OPTIMIZATION

SPEED IMPROVEMENTS | PROXY RIGS

While our rigs perform at a top level in terms of playback speed and interaction, we can also develop core improvements for your existing rigs. Proxy rigs are still very relevant – especially when multiple characters appear in a shot. That’s why we implement an instant proxy mode switch as a built-in attribute in our rigs, making them twice as fast to work with. This brings a significant boost to animation, which is typically the largest part of the pipeline in terms of team size and budget. After all, who doesn’t want happy animators with more time to focus on quality animation?

TESTIMONIALS

"We selected BEAR as the rigging tool for our latest full-feature, and we are thoroughly satisfied with this choice. The system's flexibility is a key asset, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with our pipeline. BEAR excels in all substeps of rigging, from setting guides and building the rig to creating deformation. This comprehensive functionality has streamlined our rigging process, enhancing both efficiency and quality. We are confident in our decision to continue using BEAR for our upcoming productions."
Sophia Zauner
Rigging Supervisor
"It's great that the simplified version of the rig allows you to progress very quickly in layout. The layout rigs include everything you need but are very light! With around 15-20 characters in the scene, the frame rate is still up to 30 fps, more than necessary."
Maria Spirko
Layout Artist
"I joined a production utilizing BEAR and was able to deliver my first rig literally on the same day. Using the builder felt very familiar, perfectly supporting the rigging workflow. We managed to complete my assets so quickly that I was released from the project weeks before deadline."
Noel Winzen
Rigging Artist
"The BEAR rigging workflow meets all the key requirements for character development, resulting in a robust and versatile rig that supports high-quality animation. This was crucial to the project's success."
Higor Bagetti
Production Coordinator
"I had to deal with prop rigging in the last project. That means working through a huge amount of assets in a short time. The BEAR workflow was perfectly designed for that. Reusing and recombining the rig components really accelerated my output and got faster day by day. At the same time the room for error was minimized. I wouldn't want to miss the tool in the next production."
Julien Hecker
Rigging Artist
"I have felt very comfortable working with these rigs, even having more than 10 in the same scene. I have to highlight how well the quadrupeds behave. They allow themselves to be manipulated without ever losing their structure, making them suitable for both cartoon and realistic animations."
Carlos Álvarez Zambelli
Senior Animator
"As one of the beta testers without any rigging knowledge I had the pleasure to try my best building a rig. Thanks to the clear instructions in the tooltips I didn't even have to switch pages and actually got my biped in place!"
